2022 Topic
In consideration of Rotary International’s 2021-2022 theme “Serve to Change Lives,” select a written document (for example, a book, pamphlet, literature, proclamation, etc.) that you believe has made a major impact on society at some point in history and verbally present your reasons supported by how it has impacted you, along with documented facts, actual results from the written piece and recorded public opinions.
2021 Topic
In consideration of Rotary International’s theme, “Rotary Opens Opportunities,” select a past or present global crisis and describe the positive opportunities that arose from the crisis. Support your argument with historical data and expert opinions.
2020 Topic
Following this year’s Rotary International theme, “Rotary Connects The World,” select a person in history (deceased and not related to you) who, by their achievements, would be an ideal person to improve life today, utilizing their talents, skills and today’s advancements to “connect the world.” Support your decision with historic reports, opinions by cultural experts and documentation you can deliver verbally.
2019 Topic
What are developing cultural trends that will change our community at home and worldwide over the next 20 years regarding social service to humanity? Your theories must include trend identification, trend growth and projected anticipated outcomes. You must support your argument through research, supporting data and quotes or opinions from cultural experts.
2018 Topic
Technological advancement seems to touch every aspect of life. Rotary’s key principles include fostering economic stability while building goodwill and better friendships in our own community and around the world. Discuss whether technology has enhanced or detracted from the ability to advance these key principles for people in our own community and around the world. Provide research and examples to support your positions. Highlight how Rotary could help further such efforts at home and across the globe.
2017 Topic
Rotary International has identified six areas of focus to maximize local and global impact of Rotary Projects; they are PROMOTING PEACE, FIGHTING DISEASE, PROVIDING CLEAN WATER, SAVING MOTHERS AND CHILDREN, SUPPORTING EDUCATION, and GROWING LOCAL ECONOMIES.
